Lady Gaga is one of the most famous bottle blondes of our era. But this week she revealed her darker side as she showed off an edgy new almost-black hair-up on social media.
Gaga, who loves a bit of old Hollywood glamor and often gives off some serious Marilyn Monroe vibes, is synonymous with peroxide hair. In fact, she’s so into her blonde image, it looks like she might even bleach her eyebrows to match her white locks!
However, on Wednesday (August 14) she went all dark and mysterious on Instagram when she teased fans with a short snippet of some incredible piano playing while seated at a white piano.
Wearing what looked like a black mini skirt or cycling shorts, along with semi-sheer pantyhose and a Bruno Mars t-shirt (telling, much?!) Gaga showed off her skills on the keys while rocking super-straight, black locks.
The ‘Poker Face’ singer and actress, who recently announced her engagement to entrepreneur and tech investor, Michael Polansky, had been rumored to be collaborating with Mr. Mars for quite some time. And the rumors totally amped up this week when her followers were quick to notice her obvious hint at what was about to drop.
“Bruno x Gaga is really happening!” one beady-eyed fan was quick to comment. Ha, we were too busy staring at her hair, tbh, but we’re glad her fans are more on it!
A day later, Gaga was back on the Gram in a faux-fur leopard print coat and oversized white Chanel sunglasses. And the hair, again, was looking mighty fine: we’re talking black, poker-straight and very, very shiny.
We love how she wears her hair with a center part and it’s been cut with a ton of layers running throughout, which gives the whole look a real ‘90s feel.
In a second photo she’s sans sunnies and wears very little makeup. Maybe just a little rosy blush, nude lipstick and natural-looking mascara. And, note, the brows are still looking bleached. See, we are pretty observant, after all!
Now, we’re not going to promise you that the 38-year-old-singer’s new hair color isn’t a wig – we’ve been burned by cheeky celebrities trying to fool us with wigs and hairpieces before! – but either way, we think you’ll agree Gaga is totally owning her black hair.
“THE DARK HAIR IS GIVING ICONIC ERA,” commented one of her many (56.6 million at last count!) followers.
And we 100 percent agree!
Of course, how long this look will last is anybody’s guess but in the meantime, let’s just enjoy Gaga being a cool, sultry brunette, shall we?
Oh yeah, and about that Bruno Mars collab. Well… it’s truly happening! Say hello to ‘Die With A Smile.’
If you thought ‘Shallow’, Gaga’s Oscar-winning duet with Bradley Cooper, was good, just wait until you hear this soulful ballad which dropped on Friday (August 16). It’s a definite hit in the making as far as we’re concerned.
Also, it begs the question, will this song make its way into Gaga’s new movie, Joker: Folie à Deux in which she stars as Harley Quinn alongside Joaquin Phoenix’s eerie Joker? Well, the video gives nothing away – in fact it’s more Dolly Parton than Harley Quinn – but given the title of the song we’re going with a hard yes!
