When is a braid not just a braid? When it’s adorned with gorgeous flowers. Oh, and worn by the always stunning Blake Lively!
We love a good braid, but one that’s more than a scraped back updo that’s tied with a plain band? Now that’s what we get up for in the mornings!
So may we just say a big thank you to Blake who really stepped up her hair game during a press tour in New York City.
Nobody could ever accuse Blake of not taking her job seriously. She stars as Lily Bloom in the new movie adaption of Colleen Hoover’s, It Ends With Us which took TikTok by storm last year and hits theaters this Friday (August 9).
In the movie, Blake’s character fulfills a life-long dream of opening up a flower shop and to really drum the point home, Blake has been stepping out in some major floral outfits all week. In fact, she managed four different floral ensembles in just one day – eat your heart out, Zendaya!
As much as we love to pour over celebrity’s outfits, however, it’s their hair that really has us turning heads.
Sure, this hot pink Dauphinette minidress which was covered in a multi-floral chainmail top and belt is pretty impressive. As is Blake’s matching handwoven wool jacket from Péro and Malone Souliers Josephine mules.
But, more importantly, that’s one helluva hairdo she showcased at the Betty Blooms pop-up shop while doing the rounds in NYC. We’re talking almost an entire bed of flowers woven through a softly styled, boho-esque braid.
Blake’s beautiful, loose braid was the creation of her go-to hairstylist, Jennifer Yepez, whose hair expertise and incredible creativity is loved by many A-listers including Gigi Hadid, Jessica Alba and Salma Hayek. (* That’s a pretty legit client list, we think you’d agree.)
To channel the Gossip Girl actress’ super relaxed look, spritz your hair with salt spray while it’s still damp to add texture and body, then blow-dry it all over. When your hair is dry, use your hands to scoop it over to one side and loosely braid it from around your jawline, over one shoulder and down to the ends.
Fix it into place with a covered band then pin flowers down the braid. Fresh blooms are fabulous, of course, but if you don’t have a garden fit for the RHS Chelsea Flower Show (and frankly, who does!?) try some fake flower hair clips instead. Nobody will ever know!
Blake has become a bit of a hair icon of late, even launching her very own range of hair care and styling products called Blake Brown Beauty earlier this month. With no silicones, parabens or synthetic dyes, the range promised to ‘nourish, strengthen, scent and style’ your locks to give you ‘iconic hair, every day.’
We can’t attest to such amazing claims, but we desperately want to try the products.
Ha, best we get to the back of the queue. Not only did Blake Brown Beauty become the biggest hair care launch at Target on record – it literally sold out in days – but it also completely sold out on their website before most of us could even get a look in.
We salute you, Blake. And ps, we really want your hair. Now save us some of that shampoo, PLEASE!
