Sure, bobs are ‘the’ haircut of the summer but if you have gorgeously long hair that you love more than life itself, going for such a dramatic chop can seem like a massive step. And one you might not be willing to take.

If this sounds familiar, the good news is that it’s actually pretty simple to recreate a bob without having to go within ten feet of the hairdresser’s chair.

What is this hair sorcery we speak of? Well, check out Daisy Edgar Jones, who stepped out on the red carpet at the Harkins Theatre in Oklahoma City last weekend (July 15) for a special screening of her new movie, Twisters.

On first glimpse, it looked like the 26-year-old actress might have had her trademark long, wavy hair lopped off into a jaw-length, voluminous bob…

But on closer look, it became apparent that she was faking it!

Daisy, who is known for the movie Where The Crawdads Sing and the hit Hulu series Normal People is loved for her effortlessly cool hair.

With long, shaggy lengths and relaxed bangs she’s been the subject of many ‘I want her hair’ moments around the world. So it’s no wonder she wants to keep that gorgeous mane of hers. We’d hold on to them, too!

But still, it’s nice to switch things up now and again and see how your hair would look in a short, chic bob. Minus the commitment, of course.

Daisy’s one-night-only bob was created by her NYC hair stylist, Bryce Scarlett who certainly knows his way around red carpet hair – he also looks after the likes of Margot Robbie, Natalie Portman, Lily Aldridge and, well, the list goes on.

Lucky, Daisy, right? Sadly, the rest of us mere mortals have to make do with styling our own hair at home which is annoying… but understandable considering the last time we were near any kind of red carpet was round grandma’s house!

So, what can you do to recreate Daisy’s cute and uber elegant look at home? Read on for a quick step-by-step guide for helping you to crush the faux bob. And remember, practice is perfect!

1. First, work some kind of texturizing spray into dry hair to add fullness and volume. We love R + Co Rockaway Salt Spray but whatever you have at hand will be fine.

2. Next, split your hair into two loose, low ponytails and secure them with covered bands behind your shoulders at the back of your head. Make sure the bands sit level with the base of your neck, no higher.

3. Working on each ponytail at a time, loop the hair under and secure it in place with bobby pins. Criss-cross the pins for extra hold and make sure the band gets looped under too – you don’t want to see that when your faux bob is done. That’ll be a dead giveaway!

4. When your hair is secure and looks pretty good from the front, use your fingers or the end of a tail comb to tease the back of your hair into shape and to cover your parting. And don’t worry if a few tendrils fall around the front of your face. Daisy’s did exactly the same and it looked awesome!

5. Finally, fix with a light spritz of hairspray like the red carpet favorite, L’Oréal Paris Elnett Satin Hairspray. This will hold your do in place without weighing it down.

And you’re done. See, it wasn’t that hard after all, was it?
